So you’re going to try Trickle Creek Golf Resort? Well, these tips might be of interest to you.
Monday, 23 June 2014 by Cali Sammel

The right club off the right tee is KEY!  Plus here are some other tips and tricks on some specific holes at the course;

Hole 1
Hole1Remember, Hole #1 is one of Trickle Creek’s easier ones, don’t overthink it and make it harder than it needs to be!  Playing Hole 1 from the Blue Tees may entice you to use your driver, try a four or five iron to avoid bringing the creek into play and hopefully have your ball land about 100 yards from the green.  If you play from the Black Tees, try a Hybrid 3 for the same effect as the iron from the Blue Tee.  If you are an amateur player, play from the 150 yard marker, perhaps a bit longer and get a great view of the green.

Hole 1 (Shot from the Fairway 100 Yards in)Hole 1 - Shot from the Fairway 100Yards in
Yes, the creek is in front of the green but keep in mind you still have about 20 yards to play with, commit yourself to the shot and you should find success (unless you hit a worm burner).  Depending on the pin position, hit a low punch or a high dropper with your sand wedge.  Luckily, this is one of the easiest starting holes in golf to ease you into your game!

Hole 10
Hole10The trick to this hole, similar to picking up a hot guy/gal, is to not be intimidated by looks!  Just like at Hole 1, put away the driver for number 10 and get behind the simple hybrid or 5 iron to make it to the 150 or 100 yard marker.
Super Insiders TIP – Don’t let the gully eat up your game!  If you have trouble hitting the ball solid on the clubface, you might want to hit from the greens.

Hole 16Hole16
Arguable quite a favourite hole on the course albeit a very challenging one (in fact it’s impossible to make a Hole In One here), nevertheless worth a shot!  Having the hole positioned slightly up hill gives you a full visual of all the bunkers right in front of you, long hitters, you’ll be able to make it over the bunkers, for the shorter hitters start your ball at the 150 yard marker (depending on which Tee you play from).  This hole is where the correct club really comes into play, without the correct club for the size of the green and the elevation, the uphill second shot (to the green) will get you every time.

Hole 18
Hole18Similar to Hole 10, this hole can seem intimidating given the water behind the green, however it doesn’t come into play often unless the pin is positioned near the back of the green (which is rare).  Approach this one as a shot to the green (chances are you will come up short), and can continue on from there.  Because of the downhill position of this green try your pitching wedge if you are less than 130 yards out.

Hole 18 (Shot from the fairway 150 Yards in)Hole 18 - Shot from the fairway 150 Yards in
Didn’t quite make it to the green did you?  Well that’s okay, now you get a great view of the Clubhouse and the opportunity to give it another good full swing using a club down (if you normally use an 8 iron try a 9) and trust, you’ll feel closer to the green than you are – give it a good hit!

Try thrilling Trickle Creek Golf Resort for yourself, book a Tee Time online or book a Golf & Stay package with Trickle Creek Lodge on our packages page or by calling us at 1-877-282-1200.

“Great family time at Christmas!”
Reviewed 12 April 2014
I had booked 4 rooms as many family members were staying here for Christmas. Much to my surprise, when I came to check in, the front desk staff had already done so and had all keys just ready to go. It did not even take 5 minutes to check in for four rooms. Where do you get service like that, especially during the busy Christmas season? When we got up to the room, they called to ask if everything was satisfactory! That doesn’t even happen at the Fairmont hotels! The rooms are large with full kitchens making it possible to prepare full meals. Underground parking is super convenient. There is so much to do there such as: activities for the children, swimming in the year round pool, soaking in the hot tub, skating and of course skiing! We have already booked our four rooms for next Christmas!
Stayed December 2013, travelled with family

“Friendly and superb location”
Reviewed 31 March 2014
Excellent location, with most of the facilities of home.
Been at this hotel 6 times, the last twice both 5 week stays. As always enjoyed my latest stay all staff were very friendly and helpful, staff on reception were particularly friendy and helpful after my friend fractured his pelvis, cookies and a card were a nice touch. The room service staff were also very good, obtaining extra padding for his bed and the room itself be clean and well appointed.
Staff in Montana’s were also friendly and helpful (again).

“Great location at the base of Northstar Mountain, just minutes from Downtown Kimberley”
Reviewed 1 February 2014
Have stayed here both summer and winter and on both times enjoyed the stay. In winter we had a view overlooking the ski hill. We used to either eat our lunch in the Stemwinder (bar/restaurant at the base) or in our room where we could watch the skiers whilst we ate our soup and sandwich! In the summer we had a view overlooking the Purcell Mountains and had some amazing sun rises. The rooms are well equipped with kitchen, seating area and desk/chair and a gas fire which we enjoyed summer and winter!
The location is great for downhill skiing, maybe 30 meters from the main chair lift; and the Nordic Centre was just 5 minute’s drive; we played all three courses in the summer; Bootleg Gap Golf Course, Kimberley and Trickle Creek and all three were just a short drive away. The pools and hot tub are ideal for relaxing at the end of a perfect day in and around Kimberley.
Stayed August 2013, travelled as a couple

“THE best location at Kimberley ski resort”
Reviewed 20 January 2014
The Trickle Creek Lodge has absolutely the best location for skiing at Kimberley, being situated right at the bottom of the main chairlift. They have some newer competition now, but nobody could ever build any closer for ski-in, ski-out accommodation. I have been here several times, as Kimberley is my favorite ski area, and have always enjoyed this hotel. I haven’t tried the others, but why bother when the location here is perfect and the hotel just fine. The dated looking appliances in the full suites are the only things that give away the age of the place, which has aged well. (There was a tear in the carpet, but I was assured the carpets are up for replacement in the near future. There was a leak in the kitchen sink faucet, and sticking toilet, which the front desk promptly took note of.) Service was excellent, including a call from the front desk to ensure all was well. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, except that there is a large armoire in the bedroom which is too big for the room, making for a tight squeeze around the beds. Dining is convenient, with Montana’s Cookhouse in the hotel and the Stemwinder Bar and Grill in the next door day lodge. Other than that, you need to go downtown, which isn’t that easy or cheap, as there is infrequent shuttle service. There are hot tubs and fitness area if you are inclined. The official star rating of 4.5 may be just a touch high, but I don’t know where Trip Advisor gets its 3 stars from. I recommend the Trickle Creek and will definitely keep coming back.

“Had a wonderful winter get-a-way!”
Reviewed 8 January 2014
Our family of four was more than comfortable in our one bedroom suite over 10 days. Our view of the Purcell Mountains was striking and we enjoyed lots of beautiful sunrises. We loved having a kitchen in the unit as well as being in a location that was a true “ski in – skin out” experience. Super convenient! The kids could come and go as they pleased. After long days of fantastic skiing we were able to kick up our feet and read, sit by the gas fireplace, and enjoy the pool and hot tub. We also really loved the New Year’s Eve festivities with fireworks, skating, sledding. It had a great family atmosphere. The rooms were clean, the staff were helpful and courteous. Snowshoeing, tobogganing and great restaurants were really close by. We would give our winter experience an A+!
